Edward “Butch” Simpson will lead Florida Health Choices

Butch SimpsonTALLAHASSEE, Fla. – At its annual meeting this month, the Florida Health Choices Board of Directors unanimously elected Edward “Butch” Simpson to serve as chairman of the board during 2016.  Mr. Simpson succeeds former chairman Durell Peaden, who was remembered fondly during the proceedings.

Mr. Simpson, of Ponce Inlet, is a self-employed legal consultant first appointed by Governor Rick Scott in June 2014 to the board of directors and reappointed in 2015.

Mr. Simpson is a graduate of Stetson University and Stetson College of Law.  He is an active member of the Florida Bar.

Florida Realtors® Recognizes 2015 Realtor® of Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – At this year’s annual conference, Florida Realtors® honored Florida Health Choices board member Sherri Meadows as its 2015 Realtor of the Year. Meadows currently serves as CEO of Keller Williams Cornerstone RE, with offices in Gainesville, Ocala and The Villages. She is also a member of The Meadows Team, a family real estate team that brings experience, integrity and extraordinary customer service to the Keller Williams organization.

Florida Realtors® has presented the Realtor of the Year award for more than 50 years. The recipient is honored as the greatest individual lifetime contributor to their local Realtor board, community, state association and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Over the past year, Meadows has served as president of the Florida Realtors®, the state’s largest professional association with 145,000 members. As president of the association, Meadows’ primary focus included enhancing Florida Realtors®’ support, services, advocacy programs and community involvement for real estate professionals.

In 2009, Meadows was appointed to the board of Florida Health Choices, where she continues to serve as vice-chair.

South Florida Financial Leader Barbar Joins Florida Health Choices Board of Directors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —Community and financial leader Jonathan Barbar has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Florida Health Choices, Inc. by Governor Rick Scott. Barbar, 33, of Boca Raton, is the executive vice president of Barbar and Associates LLC. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning May 5, 2015, and ending December 4, 2017.

“Barbar’s enthusiasm and forward thinking will help drive Florida Health Choices’ strategy,” said Sherri Meadows, vice chair of the board of directors. “We look forward to benefiting from his experience that is directly relevant to our needs as Florida’s health insurance exchange.”

A Wheaton College alumnus, Barbar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and economics and a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis on finance from Florida Atlantic University.

With a strong commitment to community growth, Barbar holds several leadership positions in the community with organizations including the Board of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, Westminster Academy Alumni Association, Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Boca Raton Community Church. He is also active in real estate organizations including the National/Florida Association of Realtors, Realtor’s Association of the Palm Beaches, Realtor’s Commercial Alliance, National Association of Office and Industrial Properties, and is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker.
